An artist living and working in Newcastle under Lyme (Chesterton), Steve switched from using ready made acrylics and watercolours to making his own, which allowed him to better control the characteristics of the paint he was using.

This in turn led him to set up ‘ProChroma Ltd’ offering pigments and paint making products to other artists.

Artist pigments are usually available as powders that are difficult to process and can pose a breathing hazard in their powder form without specialist PPE.

By offering a range of pigments in a pre-ground/dispersed liquid form, that can simply be mixed with any water based binder of choice, without any specialist knowledge or equipment.

In addition they offer a range of additives such as ‘open time extenders’ (slow down the drying time of the paint when applied) , matting powders to modify the surface sheen of paint, and a range of gum and acrylic resin binders. The next stage will be to produce tutorials and explainer content for making best use of the product range.
